[mythtv-users] Linux 3.11 kernel kills video playback for ATI

Due to an unrelated bug in the ATI video drivers (display port connections are not detected) I was asked to install the latest
kernel from Linus' tree.
(see this bug: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60639 and this bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1035556 )
I followed these instructions: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/GitKernelBuild

As a result, I have been running the 3.11 kernel (I have not figured out how to remove this kernel).

I have found that with this kernel, using either .26 or .27 mythTV, the video is unwatchable with many dropped frames &
stuttering audio, on any mythTV settings.
If I catch the grub screen in time & select the 3.8.0-30-generic kernel, video is smooth.
