Erik,
I forced my Cisco4642HD to output only 720p as I wanted to save
disc space. Also I never really noticed the difference in display
quality even on a 58" HDTV. I did try setting the output to 1080i and
that also recorded without issue. What I never tried was allowing the
STB to flip between 720p and 1080i according to the source signal. I
always forced one resolution.

As for the service guy saying the firewire was disabled, you may be
right that it was a comment about recording. On the other hand I know I
read on one of the Canadian forums that Rogers STBs adhere to US law as
Rogers are unwilling to pay for alterations to the firmware. They buy
their STBs from the same companies as the US providers.

When hacking the sa3250ch code for the Cisco 4642HD, I discovered that
the keypresses shared properties of two different STBs that sa3250ch
already supported. I suspect that once you discover the 8642HD's vendor
ID and model ID you should execute the channel change code I added for
the Cisco 4642HD.

If that works reliably then please document the changes and update the
wiki source for all to share.

Thanks

Doug
