Hello
I have firewire set up to my motorolla qip7100-2 cable box on fios.
I had recently moved and ended up with a new cable box(same model but must
be
later manufacture date)
Firewire worked beautifully on my old box before i moved. Now with this new
box
its really flakey.

Someitmes i can watch live tv off it for hours. Sometimes i can record my
shows.
Most of the time it doesnt work. When i try to use firewire tester i get
this
error.
You may need to manually set the channel on the receiving node.
Failed (sync failed)
P2P: Testing...libiec61883 warning: Failed to allocate bandwidth.

It also takes me forever to get the box working again after this. Turn off
computer and cable box. Unplug firewire and power form cable for about 2
minutes
then boot computer and cable box back up. then reconnect firewire.
This only sometimes fixes it.

Also what i thought was weird i cant set any options using plugctl.
I try to set it to p2p for broadcast and it never sets. Gives me no error
but
plugreport doesn't show it changed.

Also channel changing Via 6200 script works everytime.

So my questions are these.
1. Anyone know why i cant set any options via plugctl? This could be
related but
i have no idea.
2. The firewire card is a via chipset. Is it worth trying to buy a TI based
one? Could that be the cause of my all of a sudden flakyness?
3. Should i try to get fios to give me a new cable box and hope the new one
is
better?
4. I also have a pvr150 in the mythtv but i believe its dying because i get
really crappy quality from it. The cable box is only 10% of my recording so
what
are my other option. I dont want to spend much because its such a small
amount
of recordings.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Aaron.
