The problem is that while these things are nice once you've used MythTV for
a while, it is lacking quite a bit in the casual user zone.

A lot of the whiz-bang features that grab people's attention just aren't
there, or aren't that easy to implement. Things like: Streaming to phones
or mobile devices, a slick UI, Airplay support, podcast support etc etc are
all things that are sort of possible in one way or another but not easily
implemented until you really start digging deeper.

MythTV is a great system with a great infrastructure, but it's under siege
from all sides, partially because it does so much. When I demo some of the
features of Myth to my friends they are super impressed, but when they see
how much work it is to implement these things, they back away to something
easier like Boxee or just Netflix or Hulu. What MythTV needs is a PT Barnum
with some real talents that can design, present and implement more end-user
whiz-bang features and create a bit of an easy point of entry to get people
interested. MythBuntu is a step in the right direction but it's not what I
would call "easy" unless you've already spent some quality time with
MythTV.

I'm rambling a bit and probably not making a lot of good points but yeah,
that's my two cents.
