[mythtv-users] ortek vrc 1100 - need two lircds? - init script for mythbuntu?

Just figured out why my Vista MCE Remote clone (based upon the Ortek
vrc1100) is only half functional.  It's two input devices (mouse+key and
IR remote)

This URL suggests that a "simple" solution is to fire up two lircd
sessions that talk to each other.

That may be fine but the /etc/init.d/lirc init script that comes with
Mythbuntu 9.04 is pretty intense and I'd really hate to lose the value of
all the programming in that init script.

Has anyone mod'd this init script to support this HID device ?  Am I
working with old information and this whole problem is solved differently
now?
