[mythtv-users] Question about merging old mythtv database with new one

Does the mythtv database save the pathname of each
recording? When merging an old database with a new database,
where does the new database look for the old recordings?
I am in the process of upgrading my mythtv 0.18 system to
version 0.21 (Mythdora 10.21). All has gone smoothly so far
but I have run into a problem when trying to merge the
database of my old recordings with the new database set up
by mythdora. I followed the instructions here
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Database_Backup_and_Restore
to save the old database, using the command
mythconverg_backup.pl
and then merged that old database with the new one using the
command
./mythconverg_restore.pl --partial_restore \
--directory /home/mythtv/Desktop \
--filename mythconverg-1160-20090712124803.sql.gz
and got the reply
Successfully restored backup.
But now I find that the mythtv frontend freezes completely
when I try to look at or delete one of the old recordings,
but otherwise works fine.
So a question: where does the new database think the old
recordings are stored on the new machine? Does the old
directory and new directory have to agree completely?
In the old machine, the recordings were stored in /video
while in the new machine, the recordings are stored in
/Storage/recordings. I copied the old video files into
/Storage/recordings, perhaps it isn't this simple. Should I
create a symbolic link /video to /Storage/recordings?
Thanks,
Henry
