I've had a Tivo for years (since 2000?). I was always disappointed
in it's limited ability to handle scheduling conflicts. If the
Daily Show is on several times per day, for example, and there's a
conflict with the first showing, Tivo wouldn't try to schedule one
of the other showings. And you need to browse through the "to do"
list looking for conflicts and then try to resolve them manually,
or else a show you wanted to record might just not get recorded.

With Mythtv, it not only is smarter about scheduling, but I've also
written a little cron job script to email me about conflicts that
couldn't be resolved, so then I can easily decide if I care to try
to change priorities.
