That's definitely me then.  I'm in a marginal reception area (though
I've heard no complaints from my in-laws, who use the same aerial; they
probably watch a different (smaller) set of channels).

I've made a few changes over the weekend.  I'd like to run them for a
while and perhaps try a few alternatives depending on the outcome, but
certainly I'll post the patches when I'm happy with them.  Bear in mind
that I'm being quite naive about how all the I2C stuff works.  It could
be that I'm doing completely the wrong thing.  I'm sure someone will be
quick to let me know if I am, though :)

I had a failed recording this morning, so it hasn't solved all my
problems, but given my location (~30 miles from the transmitter and with
a range of hills blocking line-of-sight) perhaps a few failures is
something I just have to learn to live with.
