Well, technically they allow for it, they allow for any standards
defined output resolution and frame rate. Of course, for movies they
will use 1080p at whatever the original framerate was (usually 24fps
for film), I'm sure once they start bringing TV shows to HDTV (SG:
Atlantis was supposed to be the first Blu-Ray HDTV show...), we'll see
what they end up doing. They may remaster from source to
better-than-broadcast 1080p, or they may just take the broadcast mpeg
and call it a day (hopefully not, since it won't look much better, if
at all, than the same shows on DVD... though it would be nice to have
a true 720p version of The OC Season 1....) but I digress...

yes, another good HDTV thread, lets hope in the future people search
the forum before asking questions =D
