Take myth out of the equation.  Does /dev/video1 exist?  What happens 
when you follow the troubleshooting instructions found on the ivtv 
website?  Do you get a good file?

What's in your syslog.  What version of ivtv drivers are you running. 
What system / motherboard / etc do you have?  You should post all of 
that in your question when you reask it on the ivtv list, since an 
operational PVR card is the first step to success.
