I posted a few days ago asking if anybody was using a USB to serial
convertor for controling a DCT, and didn't get a response.

Well, I did purchase one and I did get it working. This is the one I
bought:
http://www.byteccusa.com/product/cable/usb-rs232.htm
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=12-101-118&depa=0

I had a bit of difficulty at first as I was trying to use the generic
serial driver. Once I loaded the pl2303 driver it worked perfectly.
The cable was automatically detected and I could control the DCT with
this command:

channel -p /dev/usb/tts/0

The reason I used this is because my motherboard only has one serial
port on it, which is being used by the remote control receiver. It's a
uATX board with 3 PCI slots and I didn't want to use another for a PCI
Serial port card. So, if anybody else is running short on serial ports,
this is a good solution.
