[mythtv-users] new user Knoppmyth installation problem

I had a somewhat strange problem with CD. Back when I first ventured to do this Myth
thing, I downloaded and burned Fedora Core to CD (ok...not that long ago). Since I
had a variety of PC parts, I went thru and installed Fedora, always with the same
options several times (did a check CD the first time to ensure I got the full isos).
During one install process on a PC I had previously installed Fedora (so I knew it
would work), Fedora said (during the install) it was unable to read from the CD. I
checks for scratches, did a CD Check via install, even redownloaded the iso and
burned a new CD all with the same problem after multiple retries.....after I provided all
my specs for the install, it failed at 20 % into the process.
On a whim I tried installing via my other CD drive (I had 2) since that was the one I first
installed from weeks earlier. Presto, Whamo. no problem. The CD drive apparently
was operational (actually brand new) enough to start the install but for whatever
reason failed reliably at the same part of the install (plays CD's just fine, burns fine,
reads data CD's just fine now).
So maybe.....just maybe, if all else fails, your CD-Drive might be the problem. Just
pop a new drive in (if you have access to one even only for a short time) and retry.
