I thougt about that some time ago, too. I had a look at the ringbuffer.* which
is responsible for the buffer, but it is too complex to code a quick little
patch.
Since that is a ringbuffer it should be possible to ring it without ever
resetting/removing the buffer file.
I'll probably look at that some day again (if I find the time beside class and
work).
