Run `dmesg`.   In theory, if the problem was with MythTV itself, init 1 
then init 5 should bring you back up and running (mythtv is userland).   
Since it does not, something -- likely the driver -- died, and if that 
happened it will be in the output of dmesg, right near the end.   Hope 
that helps.
