I think you might be right. I looked at module versions, and the
VOD_RTSP module in the system diagnostics indicated a build date of Jan
13, 2016. So I suppose that I've received a firmware update this month.

Yeah, I had noticed that it wasn't really off, given the instant-on
capabilities. If they're not reporting via firewire whether the box is
in sleep mode, I suppose there's not much that can be done to easily
check whether it's on.

Interesting. Seems a little hacky, but given the lack of Firewire
truth, it might be the only thing that works. FTR, the thread is "Re:
[mythtv-users] Checking power status of STB". I ended up tweaking
Daryl McDonald's script, adding the mythweb checking of whether the
tuner is busy from Justin Alcorn's post, and based on my brief testing I
think I'm good. It's set up to run via /etc/cron.hourly, so the
changes that I'll miss a recording because of this are pretty low now.

Yeah, it looks like it's a P2. It just said "QIP7100 2" on the front panel.
