I've had one USB stick die in over 8 years, and all I had to do was disable it in MythTV. That aside, it sound like the TBS 4 channel card is my best option from a price perspective also, I'll just keep the DVB-T tuners as a backup.

i'm XML.
i ran EPG on the first 6981, but upgraded to XML for the improved metadata. both options did/do work reliably.
Cabling is direct to LNB on the dish. That has a quad LNB on it, with tails into the loft which then uses an female/female adaptor to join the two ends of the cable together. no more faffing about directly on the dish side. the other 2 tails from the LNB are currently un-used in in the loft for future use.
