Thanks for the feedback Hika and George! In the end, I ran out of time and
had to revert for now.
My confusion started setting in when I consulted the IguanaWorks website
and the advice was that if the iguanair module was loaded with the system
automatically, then just use the default /etc/lirc/hardware.conf, but
MythBuntu had already modified it, so I wasn't sure if the file
/etc/lirc/hardware.conf.{something -- old? backup? original?} constituted
the "default". It looks like George answered that and I'll test it out in
a test environment before I try to do the switchover again.
Also, I was clueless (until Hika addressed it) what the new device was that
replaced (in my case with the iguanaIR) /dev/iguanaIR/0.
While no one addressed my concern regarding key code <---> action pair
definitions in the new scheme, I have since had time to think about it and
believe this resource will help: Alec Leamas' HOWTO at
https://github.com/leamas/lirc-docs. From a quick look at it, I may just
want to try and see if "it just works" or if I need to do any tweaking.
