I would presume the replacement unit came with
a new power supply, and that the OP used the new
one.

Or heat.  If the Prime is inside a closed AV cabinet,
the heat can cause problems with either the power
supply, or the Prime.

Or a really bad RF environment (if, for example, the
unit is sitting next to an AP or microcell repeater, move
one (in theory FCC rules would require both devices
to be non-interfering, but practice rules).

Or a bad CableCARD (if the interface to the CableCARD
"hangs", the internal watchdog might get triggered).
If one lives near a Comcast office, exchanging a CableCARD
can be a 10 minute task (most of that is waiting for the
CSR to update the records).

Or a bad TA (if you are using one, which is not likely
in Comcast land) causing some unusual hang with the
USB interface.

And be sure to enable sending of diagnostics to
SD, just in case there is something in the internal
logs that can help them identify any issue.

And while two bad units seem rare, that can
certainly happen.
