Jeremy thank you very much for your detailed comments here, and my 
apologies for the delay in replying. I have not been able to get back to 
testing and trying out your suggestions  as I have to take the myth BE 
offline to resolve problems arising from the upgrade mythtv 0_25 to 0_26 
and some opensuse system sofware issues. I am in the process of 
re-installing the OS as well as MythTV on a clean drive.

I'll get back once the system is up again, and I have looked at the dlna 
options.
