Personally, I think that's a very good way to go.  The mythtv backend
is far better than anything else out there.  But the frontend has not
really kept up with XBMC and derivatives.

Are you guys sure what was shown as CES was a mockup?  There is code
available for download:  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuTV/Contributing
It says there that they used the AspireRevo as their dev/test
platform.   That happens to be what I use for my mythtv frontend box,
running Ubuntu Linux.    When I get some spare time, I'll give it a
try.
