Eric,
Did a little digging and here is what I found.

On a Mythbuntu 10.04 v0.23-1 system fully updated as of Jan 2nd 2012.

mythbackend version: branches/release-0-23-fixes [26863]

ls -ls /usr/share/doc/mythtv-backend/contrib/imports/mirobridge/mirobridge

Does not have the following Miro interpreters:
mirobridge_interpreter_3_5_0.py
mirobridge_interpreter_4_0_2.py

Therefore there is no way you can use Miro 4.0.2 or higher. It seems
that the Mythbuntu debs for 0.23+fixes are not being updated for
Mirobridge.

I think you have two choices:
1) Update to Mythbuntu 0.24_fixes ppa which does support MiroBridge for
Miro 4.0.2 or higher. This is probably your best option.
2) Get the MiroBridge code from the MythTV 0.23 git and replace the
"/usr/share/doc/mythtv-backend/contrib/imports/mirobridge" directory as
you tried when you used the 0.24 MiroBridge code. Of course the downside
would be that any time you update Mythbuntu you are likely to get the
old MiroBridge code again.
3) Go back to an older version of Miro which from what you wrote is not
acceptable due to a Miro bug.

If you choose the option #2, see:
     http://code.mythtv.org/trac/wiki/UsingGit
Once you download the source:
     git checkout fixes/0.23

Copy the entire mirobridge directory from:
/your git location/mythtv/mythtv/contrib/imports/mirobridge

Good Luck

Doug
