This should work... essentially your using the splitter as a combiner...
they make purpose built combiners, but I have heard a splitter works almost
as well. You may run into situations where noise from one antenna kills the
channel for the other.  You may also find that you lose signal quality on
strong channels as one antenna gets the signal and the other catches a
reflection of it and muddies the signal once combined (similar to multipath
issues with omni directional antennas).  You can buy attenuators to filter
out channels from one antenna to reduce that effect.

I think what he was suggesting is that you create the lineups in SD...
assign one to your tuner, then just scan for channels... it will pick up
all of the extra channels that aren't in the lineup assigned... but you can
then go in and use the XMLID provided on the SD website for the other
lineup (does that make sense).
