Any reason you can't simply run those directly on the hardware?  You 
have a ZFS fileserver, and ZFS demands a meaty system, so why not just 
run it there?  You have HDHomeRuns, so those work fine under FreeBSD. 
  Make a new partition, set it up in a jail, mount the recording folders 
in it, snapshot and update as desired.  The only issue of note is that 
you'll either have to use IP addresses to access the HDHR, or do a bit 
of hacking to enable VNET support.
