True, for new consumer-class machines, they usually have PCIExpress slots (16X 
and 1X), which doesn't leave much room for standard PCI slots.

Older machines often have 3 or more PCI slots though, and they are available 
used or refurbished fairly cheaply.

Perhaps not the latest and greatest hardware, but more than adequate for Myth 
systems.

Plus, older refurbished machines often allow you to bypass the Microsoft Tax.

I prefer to use an older server class machine for the backend, it doesn't need 
high-power graphics hardware, and use something like a Revo for a frontend.

The only drawback is the older machines are not as power efficient as some of 
the newer ones, but you can't have everything.
