Many of the broadcast sound engineers I work with have totally given up on the concept of av sync!

They see their work screwed up further down the line so often, most of the broadcast equipment in use today messes up sync on a seemingly random basis, loads of engineers have thrown in the towel :-( add Dolby's (E&D) products to the mix and it sometimes seems impossible to maintain sync no matter how hard you try!

A certain very popular broadcast HDTV vision switcher (video mixing desk) subtly but randomly changes video sync with every cut!

There are a few who at least try and I try to use those guys as much as is possible.

Consequently I have the myth av sync controls mapped to dedicated buttons on my remote and sometimes have to use them in the middle of a programme when a quick pause/play doesn't fix it.
