This is not slightly incorrect. What you are seeing is ...err, well what 
you are seeing. The xvmc setup I was describing did not and does not use 
any opengl. These are completely different problems with similar 
symptoms. And the xvmc problem is not just a slight tint to the color; 
it is a bright green/black pixelated picture. And you can only get it by 
  re-compiling the intel driver with revised frame sizes in the xvmc 
branch. Which I am sure you did not do.

As for what is causing your problem...must be global warming 'cause it's 
  green.....

Fixing it is easy. Use xv. As your mother used to say to you: Don't *DO* 
that!.
