[mythtv-users] Diskless Front End (again)

Since the laptop adapter in my test front end died, I tried revisiting
the idea of having it run diskless. There are a large number of threads
out there regarding diskless setups, including the wiki entry and a few
other external how-to. However, I've reached a point that doesn't seem
to be covered in the how-to's or other docs, and I have the feeling that
it is just something simple that I am missing.

Here's what I've got: an FC6 frontend build at approx 2.6GB on my boot
server. I built everything on a local drive in the system, confirmed it
works, then rsync'ed it over to the boot server. I then followed the
wiki entry and managed to get it such that the system boots.. sort of.

What it does do:
o It does bring up the network interface.
o Gets me to a non-graphical login prompt
o Allows me to log in using my LDAP user account
o Allows me to get to my network'ed home directory, touch files, etc.

What it doesn't do:
o Doesn't start X, and, hence, never logs in as mythtv to start up the
frontend.
o Doesn't seem to mount any of the snapshot stuff.
o It does generate an error regarding fstab being ro during startup, and
it then hangs for ~2mins at starting /sbin/init
o It doesn't start any of the local network services (ssh, ntp, etc).
o It doesn't allow me to log in as "root" or as "mythtv". I can't even
/bin/su - as either of those users..

I feel like I am just *so* close.. Like I am missing just *one* step.

Ugh.. Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Thanks!
-Rich
