Speaking from a solely selfish perspective, slimserver would work
well because the mediamvp already has the code for streaming
audio if you run slimserver and slimp3slave. And yes, the
cli is pretty functional.
Softsqueeze isn't as good of a choice because it's java.

This might form the basis for an integrated player, and it works with
the
SlimServer -- though I don't want to turn this into a discussion about

merits of the SlimServer v. MythMusic, both of which I use and like.
