I am not sure what Sarah is but I am using the modules
from
linux1394<http://www.linux1394.org>.
You can find out more about how to setup firewire
here<http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/FireWire>.
As long as the channel doesn't have encryption you
should be able to pull
the data in to Myth using that cable box. Mine works
great. Try the
test-mpeg2 -r ? > /tmp/test.mpg program and send back
the results if you are
still having problems. Replace the question mark with
the firewire port that
you are using which can be determined by running
plugreport. Good luck

Allan

Allan,
Thanks for the response. I can capture successfully 6
channels (NBC,CBS,ABC,Fox,INHD1, INHD2). However, the
other ones, such as pbs and espn that have are
supposedly unencrypted give me a sync error when I use
jim's firewire_tester progam. I tested these channels
on Windows Xp and you can plainly see that the stream
is out of sync. Sound comes in and out, pictures does
the same. If I try the test-mpeg2 -r ? >
/tmp/test.mpg, I only get a 0 byte file on the problem
channels. The good ones work great!
TIA
Chad
