[mythtv-users] mythbackend with dynamic ip?

OK, I apologize for the initial lack of specific information. Seems
confusion is propagating. Let me be more thorough (also, thanks to all
for your diligence and insight):

I have access to cable at one address, and so that is where I want my
tuner card. At that address I have a server / firewall that gets its ip
dynamically from the cable modem. I update my domain
(jonesfamily.homelinux.com) with this ip address, using ddclient (dyndns
linux client).

At another address, the one where I really live, I do not have cable. At
this address, I have verizon FIOS and two workstations connected through
it. Both of these workstations, one of which runs mythfrontend, gets an
ip assigned by the router, which is, in turn, connected to the internet
and also gets a dynamic ip. I have no domain associated with this
address, since I don't run any servers here.

Summary. I'm trying to get mythbackend and mythfrontend to talk to each
other over the internet. I have no choice but to use dhcp on the server.
I do use dyndns, but this is no use, since the backend requires an
actual ip address, which changes, instead of a domain name, which stays
the same and is updated. Don't think I can use a sub-interface eth0:0,
since the problem still is that the backend needs to use whatever ip is
visible to the wan, which, of course, changes.
