That was the point of this thread, I believe.  Since the output from the 
mpeg2 encoder cards isn't actually nuv -- just happens to have the nuv 
suffix on the name.

the avidemux2 conversion from nuv to avi doesn't actually reencode 
anything, which it would presumably have to do when coming from an mpeg2 
file.
