so to stop it, you'd use:

chkconfig httpd off       (makes it not load at startup)
service httpd stop        (stops it this time around)

Changing the port isn't going to be much of a security change.  You'd be
better off using htpasswd stuff.  The lines are already there in the
mythweb .htaccess file - all you need to do is create the htpasswd file
(man htpasswd will tell you what to do) in the proper location.
