Hello,
I've been adding support to Myth in my (some what limited) spare time for
Media Changers specifically the VAIO although I don't see why others
wouldn't work just as well. I've implemented the batch CD ripping function
with logging and some other basic options, although to be really useful this
would need to be moved to a daemon so as not to block the frontend etc etc.
Anyway I'm currently adding support to the video gallery / browser so I can
load the changer with DVDs, catalogue and list them integrated in the video
gallery / browser view so to speak.
As a first pass I'm just putting them all under there own (media changer)
folder, I allow for a custom location for each piece of media. which is
where the DVD Hash would come in. It occurs to me CDDB already has a good
hashing algorithm (although I'm not sure if it can be applied to DVDs)
however for my first pass attempt I wanted something more simple. I have a
few simple questions and would appreciate if anyone has the time to answer
them for me
1. I'm quite happy to develop the Media changer functionality on my own
however it seems it would be a shame not to share this with other people if
they were interested, so would the Myth team be interested in this or not?
2. If I did go ahead with adding a hashing function for DVDs I think its
worth asking the question is anyone interested in having some sort of online
database where a variety of meta data can be held against each DVD. This
could include a wide variety of things e.g. IMDB pointer, covert art / movie
art locations, track / disc flags, theme locations (if customisable themes
within the video browser are added)
Thanks for your time
W. Wiseman
