For Comcast/Xfinity I use Fire Sticks instead of the X1 box. Less 
monthly fees and the fire stick can be tuned with adb, using scripts.

Make sure you do not get the file stick "select". That runs vega OS and 
when I checked, the xfinity stream app on vega os did not recognize my 
network, it assumed I was away from home because of the way amazon 
emulates the application. Also vega os will not support adb.

If you want to use the X1 box you may need an IR blaster, if the X1 box 
has an IR remote.
