Thanks for your insight!  So it sounds like my drive isn't "deathly 
sick", just has a "cold" and needs a little "chicken soup" 
(formatting).  At this point I'll replace the drive (new one ordered) 
and copy things over.  Any preferences on the copy function? I was 
originally thinking dd, though now with the bad sectors....   cp and 
rsync have their positives also.
