Hi Mike!
Assume this should have been posted to the list, though nice to get a
faster response!

Not intending to argue and I do agree with what you are saying -
normally. I had two separate Backends, BE1 and BE2, both running 0.28.
Separate passwords and the Frontends cannot see the other Backend from
what they are assigned. BE1 was to be retired because of the aging
motherboard but was not because of reception issues (OTA antennae) ==>
one might record a show fine while the other would not. They were not
intended as a Master/Slave configuration as BE1 was supposed to be retired.
A while back semi-piggybacked to a post re: tuner sensitivity: boiled
down to would the use of the Hauppauge 1609 potentially resolve
pixelation issues while using the 1600 and 2500 tuners. New tuner
technology vs. old tuner technology. Here I had been (re-)using the
1600 and 2500 cards, some since the original MythDora system.
So BE3 was born, using only a 1609 tuner. As for BE-3 referencing BE-1,
it apparently did and tried to take over. trouble is, 0.28 and 30 don't
play nice together.
So should I drop BE-3 to 0.28? Don't really care if the
latest-and-greatest version but I do have a bit of a concern for running
into end-of-life sooner than later. It seems to make sense to create a
new system with the most current software, thus the reasoning for using 30.
And as with BE-1 and BE-2, the intent is to have an independent system.
Yes, half-intending to do a migration of the database from BE-2 -- if
works great is not just delete the previously seen programmes.
...Not trying to come across as a smart-rump or know-it-all. I do
sincerely appreciate the assistance and guidance. By not knowing I
probably (and apparently obviously!) created some problems.
Barry
...At this point I should be clicking <send> -- still have a concern I'm
not phrasing something properly.
