[mythtv-users] improving mythtv-frontend experience on RP3 B+

Is anyone successfully running mythfrontend on a RPi3 B+?

The ION-based system I had been using for the past decade recently died. I picked up a RPi3 thinking it would be an easy replacement. Unfortunately, many of my recordings (not all) experience momentary audio blips (e.g., 1 second pause every few seconds). I see PrebufferEnoughFrames messages during some of them:

2018-10-09 21:11:19.553763 N [604/604] CoreContext mythplayer.cpp:2230 (PrebufferEnoughFrames) - Player(5): Waited 106ms for video buffers AAAAAALLLPPP
2018-10-09 21:11:37.184526 N [604/604] CoreContext mythplayer.cpp:2230 (PrebufferEnoughFrames) - Player(5): Waited 104ms for video buffers LLLAAAAAUPPP

Is this audio issue the problem that was introduced after the 2017-11-29 release? As far as I can tell, the B+ cannot run the older Raspbian release, but I’d be happy to hear otherwise. My efforts so far have failed to get it boot on that version.

I’m not a fan of the Kodi interface, so I’m trying to figure out if the RPi3 B+ is actually usable or if I should be investing in a different front-end.

Thanks,
Joe
