I looked into this for a long time without much luck. I'm afraid I
eventually gave up and bought (for ~£50) Windows 7 to run in a VM :-/.

Even once I was able to login that way and try to use conguirity I
found for my remote (an Ultimate 1) it didn't work for various reasons
(it mainly supports a different generation of remotes I think), so now
I just run Harmonies rubbish in the VM with USB passthrough.

Sorry I don't have better news/advice.
