[mythtv-users] Replacing a Mac Mini Backend/Frontend?

I've just built a combined backend /frontend to replace my ageing separate
backend and frontend systems (both ION based) with Nvidia graphics on the
frontend (Acer Revo), which surprisingly was never great when trying to
watch HD content.

The new system is a micro-itx Intel Core i5 board with integrated Intel
graphics (the mobo only has a single pci-e x1 slot which I need for a dual
DVB-S2 card) and having played around with the playback settings (a lot) I
have achieved perfectly watchable (and skippable) playback of HDTV content.

I also have a Raspberry Pi 3B (running OSMC(Kodi) with the MythTV plugin)
as a remote frontend and that too is perfectly watchable with HD content,
although the skipping performance is worse than the combined fe/be, even
with gigabit lan between the boxes.

Running MythTV frontend on the RPi gives much poorer playback quality than
OSMC, even with the hardware codec enabled.

I too am following this thread with interest :-)
