If the OP is used to NVIDIA-quality video, switching to a NUC may be a
downgrade, I've heard.

My combined FE/BE is pretty similar spec-wise, except my CPU is a bit
slower.  And aside from searching for a show, the system is "OK enough"
for now.

If the only gripe about the mini is that with newer Ubuntu distro
versions "hardware has become trickier", I'd say just try the upgrade
and see what happens.  After a full system backup, that is.   On the
other hand, if you're looking for what the newest MythTV small system
hotness is these days, I'd be curious to hear what people recommend.
When I got my system 8 years ago, I went the NVIDIA ION.

What is the modern NVIDIA ION replacement?   And is NVIDIA graphics
still recommended for best-quality deinterlacing and smoothness?
