FWIW, VA-API 1.0 claims to have even better Wayland
support, but in any case, as you know (this is for others
reading along for their amusement), that will require
someone with copious free time to rewrite the MythTV
vaapi support to move forward (the existing support
had been using a backwards compatibility feature that
was not even supporting some features of the new
Intel GPUs (especially better de-interlacing), or, perhaps
better (if that person has even more free time), rewrite
the entire video pipeline to better utilize the FFMpeg
support to be able to let that library be responsible for
tracking the various hardware acceleration ABI changes.
