LPCM can support any number of channels. MythTV can output multi-channel 
LPCM over HDMI with the correct settings.

To get multi-channel LPCM you need to set the "speaker configuration" to 
the number of channels you want : 2, 5.1 or 7.1. Also uncheck the 
settings for Dolby, DTS and other audio formats in the "digital audio 
capabilities". Uncheck "upconvert stereo to 5.1". Uncheck settings in 
"advanced audio settings"
