OK, now hopefully for an answer, or something that may lead to one. How 
about an "HDMI Audio Extractor"?  HDMI (so video) signal passed through 
but the audio can be extracted to 'RCA L/R connectors' and/or optical, 
dependent on the model.  Google hits suggested a $17.99 offer from 
Walmart and $16.99 from Newegg Business.
