I have to do CTL-ALT-F2 to get it to wake up and then I login and restart lightdm to fix it.I need to do some more research.Jim A              This particular problem where a MythTV box will not connect againafter a TV has been off (or in standby or unplugged) is usually ableto be fixed by copying its EDID data and getting the Nvidia drivers toload the copied EDID data instead of trying (unsuccessfully) to get itfrom the TV.  Presuming, of course, that you are using an Nvidia card.It may also work the same way with other drivers, as it seems to be aproblem at the TV end that causes it.

does 'xrandr' fix the issue? 
off the top of my head i cycle display state with xrandr with the following:
xrandr --off
xrandr --output HDMI-1 --auto

i forget how to get the 'output' name, but probably obtained via something about listing displays in the xrandr help.
