Whatever you decide on, for the WD Reds, I've always gone out of my way to disable the head parking timer.  Some have come with it already disabled, most that I've purchased do not.

>From my Linux desktop I do:

Get drive status:

idle3ctl -g /dev/sd[x]

Disable:

idle3ctl -d /dev/sd[x]
