Ok, I was mistaken about what is causing the system to want to go to the
DTA tuner each time I select "watch TV": it's not because that was the
input the system last recorded from, but because that was the input live
TV was last tuned from. That makes sense, since I had been regularly
checking, using the live TV option, whether that input was working
properly.
To add a bit of further detail about the set-up, the DTA tunes,
effectively, only one channel. I have not set up lirc or some such in
order to allow the MythTV system to fully interface with the DTA, but have
been content thus far to record from only one channel. So I manually tune
that channel on the DTA, then just tell my MythTV system to record from
the input attached to the DTA for a given period of time on each weekday.
The channel the system tunes on that input (channel 3, so far as MythTV is
concerned) does not exist in either of my OTA line-ups, by the way.
Am I understanding correctly, then, that there is no way to cause the
system to tune a particular channel--one available to the inputs devoted
to OTA but not available to the input connected to the DTA--whenever I
select "watch TV?" If not it seems I'll need to manage by remembering,
every time I've checked whether the input devoted to the DTA is working by
tuning live TV on it, to make sure I switch back over to one of the OTA
inputs afterward.
Thanks.
