If it is mythfrontend that's frustrating the poweroff, try adding a
kill statement to the script you tried before. Like `pkill
mythfrontend` followed by a say 2 second wait.
You might have to issue the kill twice, so you might have to put it in
a loop testing for the processes presence with `pgrep mythfrontend`.
If that returns anything it is still running.
