This has been singing around on the xmltv-devel
(xmltv-devel at lists.sourceforge.net) mailing list. It has their
attention.

If and when there are public html/json sources available for the
channels you need, I can in a few months offer an alternative. At
present I am rewriting the Dutch grabber
(https://github.com/tvgrabbers/tvgrabnlpy) to a generic xmltv API that
on the basis of json definition files can collect and combine that
data into an xmltv data file. I think I will have a workable beta in
some two months. I can then assist in creating a json definition and
frontend for the UK, but it will need someone to maintain it after.
Just as with the Dutch grabber I focus on the code base, while sombody
else maintains the line-up of the sources.
