Hi John!

Welcome to the mess! <g> It appears the *.real endings have been added
since the last system I built and used which was 10.10. One of the
commands to stop Mythfrontend from 'looping' when loaded via the MythTV
Desktop icon was to go to Terminal and enter "sudo killall mythfrontend"
and then "sudo killall mythfrontend.real". Where I found that implied
two separate commands.

And FWIW the Desktop icon says the command is "mythfrontend -service"
which if the Backend isn't found will keep looping (retrying), whereas
typing 'mythfrontend' in Terminal will try once and eventually go back
to Terminal if it doesn't find the Backend. Plus via Terminal
automatically gives a nice little log.

Yes-but. <g> AFAICT when I run 'mythfrontend' in Terminal the system
has to 'clear' or maybe 'complete' the first command before it will
start the second. So does not appear I'm 'stacking' commands, which I
would agree could cause 'confusion' by the operating system. And I
apologize for the use of simple words: I'm fairly new to all this and
don't know the terminology, and better to use a simple word than the
wrong word and confuse you guys who are trying to help me. ...As for
the Mythbuntu 10.10 comment, yes, have been using that system for years
but just recently 'learned my ways' and switch from Windows to Linux.
