As for my policy of center cutting 16:9,
a) since we create the content, no one is missing a thing without the
sides. Nothing.
b) I believe many of our viewers will be unable to find an anamorphic
setting on their TV, or figure out how to expand the letterboxed 4:3 so
it is not postage stamped. It is my view it plays correct on more TVs
the way it is than either of those options. Even though, I personally,
would prefer an anamorphic frame.
If we could insert AFD into our HD-SDI and have it respected after it
goes though HD-SDI>ASI> to whatever else Charter is running us through
before we go back out I would do that.
